CAROLYN ZOOK LEWIS, RN, MSN, CPNP-AC, PMHS

Carolyn Zook Lewis is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner in Child Neurology at The University of North Carolina's Children's Hospital. She is dual certified in pediatric primary care and acute care, and is also certified as a Pediatric Mental Health Specialist. Carolyn has over 28 years of pediatric nursing experience, and has worked as a pediatric nurse practitioner for the last 19 years. She spent 6 years working in pediatric primary care at Duke University prior to her position at The University of North Carolina. She currently cares for patients in the UNC Child Neurology outpatient clinic. The focus of her practice includes children with new onset seizures, epilepsy, headaches/migraines, and developmental delay and autism. She feels that her years in primary care give her unique insight into the holistic care of special needs children.

Carolyn's passion for education shines as she is also an Adjunct Faculty Member at the University of North Carolina, where she lectures on topics such as Child Neurology and Developmental Physiology & Pathophysiology and precepts Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner students. She also lectures and precepts students for the Duke University Acute Care PNP program. She was nominated for the 2009 National NAPNAP Preceptor of the Year Award by Duke University. Carolyn has presented at national, state, and local conferences for the Association of Child Neurology Nurses (ACNN) and NAPNAP. She is a member of both organizations, and is past secretary for NCNAPNAP and a past board member for ACNN.
