JUDY SMITH, MHSA, GNP/ANP, RN

Judy Smith has many years of direct clinical experience working in a variety of settings, including Acute Care (ICU/CCU and the ED), Skilled Nursing Facilities and Home Care. Judy has sought out opportunities to address the high-risk nutritional needs of patients in her professional nursing practice across the settings she has worked in. Judy's experiences in the SNF environment encompassed clinical, regulatory and financial issues related to weight loss and malnutrition. As a nurse practitioner working in the home care arena, malnutrition concerns were regularly in the forefront of the overall care plan, whether from a disease prevention/health maintenance perspective or as quality of life consideration. More recently as a case manager for seniors in their homes, significant weight losses continue to dominate the patient challenges that she addresses on a frequent basis. Judy holds active memberships with various Nutrition and Dietetic Organizations that disseminate the latest in evidence-based research on this important patient topic. She also continues to find great value consulting with interdisciplinary team members, including physicians, registered dietitians and nutritionists, to guide treatment approaches for the most challenging patients experiencing unanticipated weight loss entrusted to her care.

Judy completed the Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Colorado. She is respected as a published author, nationwide consultant, and requested presenter. Judy looks forward to sharing her expertise related to this difficult topic so that you can return to your patients with new and successful strategies that can be immediately put to use!
