CAROLYN PETERSON

Carolyn Peterson is a co-supervisor for the Adult Services Division within the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office.  She has worked in several areas in the Office but has spent most of her career in the Adult Services division, where she handles a wide variety of civil commitment cases, primarily focusing on cases that arise in the criminal area, so-called “Rule 20” cases, Mentally Ill & Dangerous cases, and Sexually Dangerous Persons cases.  She also provides representation and advice for Adult Protection Services in vulnerable adult maltreatment matters.



Carolyn participated in the 1994 Legislative Task Force on Sexual Predators and the 1999 Supreme Court Civil Commitment Rules Committee.  In 2001 and 2003 she received recognition from Hennepin County’s Employee Recognition Program for her participation in the Multi-Disciplinary team addressing Vulnerable Adult cases.  She was recognized for her contribution to the office at the 2010 Community Leadership Awards.  Carolyn has been a presenter at numerous CLE events on Rule 20 commitments for the MCAA, and has also provided training for court examiners in Hennepin County.
