CAROLINA LAMAS

Judge Carolina A. Lamas is a District Court Judge in the Fourth Judicial District of Minnesota (Hennepin County) chambered in Minneapolis.  Judge Lamas has been presiding over Veterans Treatment Court, Mental Health Treatment Court, and Rule 20 competency hearings since 2017 and was previously assigned on the criminal felony block.  Prior to her time on the bench, Judge Lamas was the Executive Director and Lead Attorney of the Neighborhood Justice Center in St. Paul, a non-profit criminal defense firm focusing services on communities of color and other underserved populations (2007-2014); and was an Assistant Public Defender in Ramsey County, Minnesota (2003-2007).  Judge Lamas is a past Vice President of the American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota, and past President of the Minnesota Hispanic Bar Association.  Judge Lamas earned her B.A. and J.D. from the University of Minnesota.
