BRUCE CANNON, M.ED., LPC

Bruce Cannon, M.Ed., LPC, has been employed by the South Carolina Department of Mental Health for over 40 years. Now semi-retired, he has worked in multiple capacities, but is best known as the Emergency Service Director for the Columbia Area Mental Heatlh Center for the majority of his career. Mr. Cannon has seen the effects of de-institutionalization on community-based treatment first-hand.  He works very closely with the Richland County Probate Court to coordinate the utilization of involuntary evaluations and treatment. Mr. Cannon played a major role in the implementation of family inclusion and telepsychiatry at SCDMH as well as the psychiatry team in place in the Palmetto Health Richland Emergency Department.
