ORLI WEISSER-PIKE, OTR/L, CLVT, SCLV

Orli Weisser-Pike, OTR/L, CLVT, SCLV is the assistant director of the Low Vision Service at the Hamilton Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology, University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC).  Alongside her clinical appointment, she instructs ophthalmology residents and occupational therapy students.  In 2004 she became the first Certified Low Vision Therapist (CLVT) in the greater Memphis area and in 2006, was the first occupational therapist in the region to achieve specialty certification in low vision (SCLV) from the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).  To date, she is one of twenty OTs nationally to achieve SCLV since its inception.  Ms. Pike currently serves on AOTA's Low Vision Specialty Certification panel as a reviewer, and previously served on the same panel to develop the specialty certification requirements.  Additionally, she is co-chair of the Low Vision Therapy Subject Matter Expert Committee for the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professional (ACVREP), and was a previous member of ACVERP's item development for the new certification examination in low vision therapy.  She previously founded the first low vision rehabilitation program available through the healthcare system in the Memphis area for a large tri-state hospital.

Ms. Pike has over 14 years of clinical experience; the last eight years in the field of low vision.  She is deeply committed to the advancement of low vision rehabilitation through the professions of occupational therapy, low vision therapy, and ophthalmology and is devoted to a full-time career in low vision rehabilitation.
