The Skin & Wound Management Certification course is provided by the Wound Care Education Institute (WCEI®). WCEI works in conjunction with the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy® (NAWCO®) in preparing students for the Wound Care Certified (WCC®) certification examination. WCEI is a dedicated center of education designed to provide students with a comprehensive training program for the management of wounds and skin care. Our training program was developed on the principles of evidence based research utilizing the AHRQ Clinical Practice guidelines, current practice trends and standards.

Certification
Upon completion of The Skin & Wound Management course, all qualified participants are eligible to take the WCC® Exam at the end of the seminar. The WCC® Exam is offered by the NAWCO®. WCC® initials are the certification mark of the NAWCO® and you can use these credentials after successfully passing the exam. WCC® provides an added credential beyond licensure and demonstrates by examination that you have acquired a core body of specialized knowledge.

    Why Certification?
    The purpose of this course is to provide participants current evidence based education in the area of skin and wound management. To educate the participants in an overall comprehensive approach in risk assessment, wound assessment and patient treatment plans in wound management.

    Certification provides an added credential beyond licensure and demonstrates by examination that you have acquired a core body of specialized knowledge.
    Course Content:

    WCEI's Skin and Wound Management Course is a four or five-day wound care training seminar consisting of classroom training.

      • Day 5: NAWCO® Wound Care Certification Examination (Administered by National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy®) following WCEI's wound care training

    Eligibility

    Anyone can attend the course. Those wishing to take the NAWCO® WCC® national certification exam must meet the following criteria:

    Active U.S. unrestricted license in one of the following professions:

  • LPN/LVN
  • RN/NP
  • OT/PT/PTA
  • MD/DO/DPM/PA
  • While actively licensed, candidate must show at least two years’ full-time or four years’ part-time wound care experience within the past five years. This means that wound care was a component to your job duties for at least 2 yrs. FT or 4 yrs. PT. Candidate may participate in the NAWCO® Preceptor Program in lieu of required experience.
